What up homie? Happy 2011!

It's been a long time since I've rapped at 'cha hasn't it?I hope everything has been swell with you and yours. Well. Except for that asshole cat.

Anyway, one of my "goals" for this year is to blog more. Now, if you are being a bit of a jerk, this is where you are say "well shit. Considering you only posted like, twice in 2010, that shouldn't be too hard." to which I say "true."

So, here I am. I used to post lots of witty and funny shit of things that would happen to me. Of course, that was back in the single, I'm a bit of a lush/slut days. But, alas, now things run towards roller derby, work and a decided lack of confidence in my skating ability or, as some will say, more roller derby. Anyway, I will to add some fin and witty things that happen to me that do not involve making out with boys in bars.

Until then. please enjoy this little survey I have prepared for you. A meme if you will on my 2010. I'm off to San Diego in the morning for some librarian work things. I'll be back before you know it. It will be like I was never really here at all.

1. What did you do in 2010 that you'd never done before?
Travel by train. That trip from New York to Vermont was something I would do again. I prefer it to flying actually.

2. Did you keep your new years' resolutions, and will you make more for next year?
I make some goals that I try to keep going all year. I have some holdovers and a few revised ones this year.

3. Did anyone close to you give birth?
Nope! No babies here!

4. Did anyone close to you die?
Nope! We had a few deaths in the family but no one I was particularly close too.

5. What countries did you visit?
does ass backwards Arizona count?

6. What would you like to have in 2011 that you lacked in 2010?

More self-confidence and maybe some more balls out bravery. I self-doubt in my personal life and that bums me out.

7. What date from 2010 will remain etched upon your memory, and why?

August 1. I got home from Vermont and had to make some decisions that I still think about.

8. What was your biggest achievement of the year?

Getting my book out and planning a successful regional tournament. These were not done by myself but they were great accomplishments.

9. What was your biggest failure?

Giving up and not sticking things through. Insert no self-confidence and doubt here.

10. Did you suffer illness or injury?

I had that concussion in February from falling on the ice but I think that's it.

11. What was the best thing you bought?

My party dress and petticoats. I wish this could read " my very own house"

12. Whose behavior merited celebration?
My friends. For sticking with me.

13. Whose behavior made you appalled and depressed?
Shit, I don't even want to talk about it.

14. Where did most of your money go?

Debt.  See goal #1.

15. What did you get really, really, really excited about?
My month on the East Coast. First Princeton, then NYC and DC and Vermont.

16. What song will always remind you of 2010?
Waka Waka. The spanish version. I first heard this song and in NYC and it makes me happy everytime. Bulletproof was a good one too.

17. Compared to this time last year, are you:
- happier or sadder? both
- richer or poorer? about the same I think.
- thinner or fatter? about the same. Or I at least I hope.

18. What do you wish you'd done more of?

Kept in touch with friends.

19. What do you wish you'd done less of?

Put up with stupid shit.

20. How did you spend the holidays?
Home in Arizona. Hung out then drove home. Not awesome.

21. Did you fall in love in 2010?

Not really.

22. How many one-night stands?
I read many books in one night. No hookups though. Smutty books should count though.

23. What was your favorite TV program?
The First 48 when I could watch it. I love true crime stories.

24. Do you hate anyone now that you didn't hate this time last year?
No. I don't really hate. Just intensely dislike.

25. What was the best book you read?
I can't think of a particular one since I read so many. I know there was one I liked. Let me think.

26. What was your favorite film of this year?
Not a big movie watcher either. We're cheap. We just watched Slumdog and it was good.

27. How would you describe your personal fashion concept in 2010?
Lazy. Like this survey.

28 Whom did you miss?
A couple of people; or rather those I lost touch with.

29. Who was the best new person you met?
Is it bad I can't think of anyone?

30. Tell us a valuable life lesson you learned in 2010.
Sometimes things don't go the way you expect. And what you think you want and what you get and/or have, may not what you thought you wanted. Making decisions is hard and you may not always know if you made the right ones (or the wrong) until later, until then, make the best of what you have.

The remains of the day....

I woke sometime last night and thought that yesterday was all a bad dream. One of those that has you wrapped up and emotionally overwhelmed.

I got back on Saturday night in not the best of conditions. Immersion was really rough. A very hard, stressful, overwhelming week where the length of my trip started to wear down on me and make me long to be home with RC.

In an effort to be more communicative while I was gone, I sent home postcards and jotted down little notes in a baby notebook that Spyboy and I found in New York. I thought it would help me remember the funny things that happened while I was gone so RC and I could catch up and I would have these funny stories to tell him. I figure I will turn those notes into blog postings to share with the one person who reads this although I am sure I will tell them to her in person anyway.

There is plenty that I can tell of my story over the last 3 weeks while I have been gone. Some funny, some good, some terribly sad. I suppose as I go along you will be able to tell the difference.

Something isn't working...

And I have the feeling that that something is me!

I haven't been very diligent in posting as I had once claimed to be planning. Instead, I fill my days with regular work, derby work, WFTDA work and the never ending quest to find a new pair of skates. I suppose if I tried, I would dedicate some time to jot down some witty observances about the world around me. But alas, I haven't been that dedicated.

In a side note, I am in the middle of planning our trip to the Clover Cup in early March. I plan on NSOing and working on getting certified. The current debate is driving 10 hours or flying. It's a hard call since I think driving would be fun.

Also, last night we went out with the girls for some drinks as it was Miss A's last night working at the bar. Not only was she in fine form, but during a conversation, I admitted that I am little queer. I enjoy looking at the ladies. This, in turn, makes RC uncomfortable as in he thinks I will one day switch teams and decide that being with a boy isn't in my life plan. But I don't think it would come to that. Instead, how can someone with eyes in their heads deny that some girls are just hot? Like good lord and slap your mama hot? Does that make you a little queer?

oh hai!!

long weekend of derby as I sat on my couch and watch the Declaration of Derby. Congrats Oly for winning Nationals. Please come to Lincoln and train my ass into a skater that is 1/4 as good as the worst skater on your league. I would still be kick ass. Like for real yo.

Went to practice tonight (oh and I went last Monday too but only for an hour since Rob had to work), One of our refs who is really experienced at skating loosened my trucks on my goodness!!! It was like heaven! I first started skating with my orthotics in but had to take them out almost immediately since my entire right leg began to hurt. But the loosening of the trucks made a difference. Because of this pain, I missed the catch the pack drill it hurt so bad to skate. I'm hoping that this easy fix will cure my problem of foot and ankle cramping. le sigh.....my feet aren't sore tonight so yay!

Another night of practice tomorrow and it will be a short one again since Rob has to work. Have I ever mentioned that late practices cause me to lose sleep? Last week after that Monday practice, I had trouble sleeping, then started to feel sick. I ended up staying home from work on Wednesday and Thursday since I felt yucky. Now I gave that same yuckiness to Rob although I think he is starting to feel better.

So, I decided that I really have to start pushing myself a lot harder. I almost wish that there was someone who would really ride me to do better. But only a little; not push me until I get all irritated. When we get home I sometimes complain about various ailments and Rob gets irritated with me. That's why I need a derby wife who will push me to do better. Any takers?

on track=new challenges

So we had the 2nd night of practice and i was only to attend for an hour before heading home. It was a long day since I worked from 9-5, went to a NCDG Board meeting immediately after work until about about 7:30. The rushed home, changed, spent a few minutes with Mini-me, ate some delicious baked cheese sandwiches, then off to practice only a few minutes late!

We did some basic skills tonight like crossovers around a cone, t-stops and turn stops. The crossovers were hard to do in a circle actually and I wished we could have done them on the track. The turn stops are a challenge as I have trouble turning not to mention that I am a big pussy when it comes to doing it since I have a fear of falling on my tail bone. But I definitely need to get over that and just do it.

I want to go skate on Thursday and work on turn stops and some agility basics. Le sigh. I also got my orthotics and want to put those inserts into my boots and see if that helps my cramping.

Our old coach showed up tonight after a lot of smack talk and just being a general asshole last season. He's really condescending and acts like you're beneath all acknowledgement if he doesn't like you. Guess how I know that? Hmmmmm...he acts the same way with Rob too. As if we are somehow below his notice or aren't worth the respect. All I have to say to that he can kiss my rock hard Fugitives...There is a reason why you weren't kept around jerk face and there is a reason why you aren't welcomed back this season either.

On a positive note, I drank 40 ounces of water today!! And ate both breakfast AND lunch. Woo hoo!

Posting=staying on track

I wonder if posting more would keep me honest about what I am doing. Hmm...considering that no one reads this blog, it may not but I suppose I just have to try it and see.

Our first new skater practice was last night and I think it went well. My feet cramp horribly. Like numb feet in my skates numb so I am going to buy some inserts that Midlife Crashes from ORG recommends. Of course she uses them for super high arches but I'm hoping a little more support in my skates will help. I hate to be the girl that has to stop to shake out her feet and get the cramping to stop. Sylvia Bullet also suggested upping my potassium intake and drinking more water. So I ate a banana and plan on drinking more water. And maybe eating another banana later.

Anyway, I plan on working on my endurance and maybe running on off days. I want to try spinning too but have to figure out the whole Y membership thing. Right now, Rob and I are trying to pay stuff off and save money for a house. Things would go much faster if I could score a PT job. If only derby paid....I'd have tons of billable hours !
