Tenure and the tender librarian

I seem to talk about the weather a lot don't I? Now that I have weather to be interested in, rather than the Tucson "it's gonna hot today" all year round, I have assumed the title of Weather Lady here in the liberry and deliver random weather reports to Charlene my office mate.

The week is counting down to surgery and I have been trying to make sure and finish things up before I'm out recovering (or rather reading smutty novels and boring myself with TV). One of the main things I had to finish up were my folders for my review. Folders for a tenure track librarian have many names and are sometimes called packets or binders or the notebooks. They often carry a descriptive phrase like "my tenure packet from hell". These folders take a long time to do and even longer if you like to procrastinate or don't keep track of everything you do all year.

So my folders were due on Friday at 5pm but I had decided that sitting here surfing craigslist or looking at CNN or derby related webthings seemed funner than writing out my "Professional Contributions" sheet or putting together my appendixes of support. I did get it done on time (hurray me!!) and turned in by the deadline which made me happy yet anxiety ridden wondering if my folders and written stuff were perfect so my fellow librarians would not be compelled to bring their red pencils and correct my grammer. Keep your fingers crossed for me kids.

I forgot to mention that the weather is changing we have a forecast of possible snow and "blizzard like" conditions out in Western Nebraska. So in preparation I went to the ACE and bought some stakes to bring my tomatoes inside as they are actually produing tiny little baby tomatoes. Damn late tomatoes. Why didn't they bloom earlier in the year like regular plants I ask? Maybe my plants are procrastinators too!

Your sensors are covered!

As many of you know, I don't wear pants very often. And as you start thinking down the same mental roads I tend to navigate down, I don't mean I have a fondness of running about bare assed. I mean pants literally I don't like to wear pants and they don't like me very much either since I tend to suffer some sort of pant-related calamity so frequently that I KNOW it's the pants. Instead, I prefer to wear one of my 50 skirts (ok, one of the 10 that are in constant rotation) even in the dead of a Nebraska winter when it's cold. So today, in honor of having to help do some set-up for the wonderful extravaganza of the Quilt Museum Gala, I wore one of the 3 pairs of jeans I have so I could move tables and chair s about without the threat of any sort of inadvertent booty flashing.

So I got dressed and gathered my things and headed down the stairs to leave when I missed a step and FELL DOWN THE STAIRS. Like bounced off my ass and down the stairs. So as I am sitting there trying to gather my bearings, Mini-me, after hearing the racket I made bouncing down the stairs, asks what happened. I tell her that I fell down the stairs to which replies "Oh. Well I'm ok".

Migration

like the birds I am slowly migrating from other blog arenas to this one.

After living in the Midwest for a year, I still appreciate the Fall weather while looking forward to Winter although I'm not sure what I'm going to do about having to wear pants. Isn't this the same song and dance we heard last year? I imagine one day I will have just accept that snow + ice=pants.

This seems very familiar no?

Hello!

This seems eerily familiar doesn't it? I seem to recall another blog that looked EXACTLY the same from years ago! Since I haven't written on that blog for at least 2 years now, I started this one as sort of a continuation from the Myspace and so made the exodus from Myspace blogs to blogger. It's a long story but in the end, it will hopefully put an end to some issues that keep making thing difficult.

I'll post something super wonderful in the coming days.

Until then,
Suci
